oh, hey mama co
Earlier this year, while perusing Instagram, I came across a feed called @heymamaco. I can’t remember exactly how I got there [which is odd because normally I remember weird stuff like that] but I was intrigued right away. This feed was featuring all mama entrepreneurs in little snippets via their Instagram posts. I started following along and I loved reading all these cool moms’ mini stories everyday.
Then in May, the ladies behind the Instagram feed, Amri + Katya, announced they were officially launching their website, heymama.co where you can learn more about their featured mamas, discover some other mamas you may have missed, connect with these awesome ladies and more. Just recently, they started hosting events in major cities where you can meet some of your favorite insta-moms in person.
I reached out to Amri and Katya to find out more about their vision. In a Skype conversation with Amri, she told me how she and Katya met on a playdate, each of them with their new three month old babes in New York City, feeling out of sorts in their roles as new moms. They had both come to the playdate for some of the same reasons – they were both new mamas in a big city where their friends weren’t having babies at the same time. I could relate. I have mentioned before on this blog how I also felt alone in a different big city [LA] after having my son. Who, ironically is about the same age as Amri and Katya’s daughters.
Our similarities did not stop there. Both of these mamas had worked for some pretty major companies in the combined fields of fashion, design, digital marketing, social media, and sales and this project is a new venture for both. Their aim is to connect mamas, to be a space where we can “discover and be discovered.” So as a mama who is working on a creative business of her own, I really appreciated their passion for this project. And of course I love connecting with other like-minded mamas, so it was love, love, love all around.
To date, their Instagram following totals more than 17K, the website is up and running beautifully, and they have held two successful live events. I can’t wait to see what these ladies come up with next! In the mean time, I’ll leave you with just a few of my personal favorite mamas who have been featured on Hey Mama Co, whom I have either discovered there or who the Hey Mama team has discovered since. And keep your eyes peeled on the @heymamaco Instagram feed this evening and you just might see a familiar mama on there. 😉
