october scrapbook
Ahhhhh how is it November already?! I was looking back over the last month, trying to figure out where it went, and I realized I only had one blog post in the whole month – oops! So that calls for a little scrapbook update to catch up on what’s been going on in our fam. Obviously, it has been a busy one! But aren’t they all lately?
We started out the month with celebrations. One good friend’s birthday and another’s wedding. My friend that got married actually wore my wedding dress! I unfortunately did not really get a good picture of her in it, but trust me, she looked stunning. ; ) I was so honored to have her wear it and I truly love that it got a new life. I mean, it was just sitting in a box for the past eight years. If I can get a good pic from her later, I will post it here with a side by side of me in it too.
I love the holidays and seasonal fun, so ever since my son was born, we make a point of doing a trip to a pumpkin patch. After three years, I would say we almost have it down. It is a fine art to be able to plan around nap schedules, avoiding the crowds, dressing for the weather, being photo ready, remembering all the snacks, AND having some actual fun all while not breaking the bank. So naturally, I forgot to bring diapers for the baby. An extra stop and an arrival a few minutes later than we planned, we still made it in and out before it got too busy, so I call it a win.
If you live in the Southern California Area, I highly recommend Underwood Family Farms for your pumpkin patch experience. This was the second year we went to this one (and tried another in between) and it was our favorite trip so far! There were more than enough activities for the kids to do and they had a blast. The farm even has a little local farmstand in the front entrance so I got some of my fresh weekly produce along with our pumpkins. And this moment basically made my life:
on big A: buffalo plaid flannel shirt and dark skinny denim from gap // boots from boot barn (last year but you can find similar here)
on little A: chambray buttondown shirt from gap (not available currently, but you can find similar here) // buffalo plaid chloe sunsuit from sadie then tye // fringe moccasin boots from gracious may
Being the uber-organized mom that I am, we did not get around to doing anything with our glorious pumpkin patch finds until the night before Halloween. So please forgive the horrible lighting. We decided to paint this year instead of carve. Painting is easier and less messy than carving, and is fun for big A to actually get to involved in. I even tried to spray paint some pumpkins with chalkboard paint, thinking we could draw silly faces to erase and draw again. They looked cool with the matte black finish, but did not actually function well for chalking on faces.
Of course the kids dressed up and we went trick-or-treating for Halloween. We went with one of big A’s friends from preschool to an area known for really going all out for Halloween. The houses we all decked out, homeowners passed out candy in costume, and the street was closed down so everyone could just walk in the street. It is so fun to get to see the world through my children’s eyes again. It is definitely one of the best parts of being a parent.
Last but not least, my little peanut turned eleven months old this last month. Which means, it is now officially the countdown to her first birthday! I am simultaneously eager (can not wait to be done pumping) and sad (where did my baby go?). But mostly, I am excited because if you have been following along here on on my Instagram, you know I have been planning her party for months! I plan to share as many of the DIY projects I have been doing along the way here on the blog with you leading up to her birthday as I possibly can. AND I just may have a fun little contest going on in a couple weeks over on Instagram with some awesome prizes for YOU to celebrate my baby A’s birthday! Soooooo, go follow me over there so you do not miss it and keep in touch here on the blog too!
