things we love: freckle baby bibs

A while back when this baby boy was still in my belly, I connected with small shop owner Kimberly Pratt of Freckle Baby via Instagram. She had recently launched her line of beautifully simple bibs, blankets, and baby hats, with one key feature – an attached leash to keep baby’s teething toy or pacifier close by without the need for an extra piece!

As a busy mama to four boys under five (!), Kimberly was making dinner one night and kept having to retrieve her teething six month old’s toy every few minutes when he dropped it. It occurred to her that it would be so nice if his drool bib had something attached to it that she could easily connect his teething toy in order to keep it in place, saving her from the fetch routine. It was this simple idea that bore Freckle Baby!

Kimberly is a truly inspiring work-at-home mom, balancing getting kiddos ready, pick-ups, drop-offs, and a small business all at the same time! #momgoals. After creating her own pattern and developing exclusive prints for the bibs, she did a small production run and added hats and blankets. It was just under a year ago that she then took her idea to a successful Kickstarter campaign for a full production run.

Now that my little man is himself six months old, I can fully appreciate how wonderful Freckle Baby products are! [Isn’t funny how you can forget these stages of babyhood, even as a third time mom?] My little guy doesn’t have any teeth yet, but he is in full on teething mode right now. He basically will chew on anything he can get his hands on, his favorites being his Natursutten paci and his burp cloths, ha. And although he doesn’t yet have the constant drool going, he has been a happy spitter for several months, so bibs are a constant staple for us. My favorites being any of them we have that do not have those cheesy sayings on them like “daddy’s little slugger.”

We also have this wonderfully soft and cuddly blankie that he can use either to lay on or to snuggle with and of course it has a leash too that I like to attach some of his bigger teething toys [like this wooden one] . Perfect for chilly mornings when he is hanging out while we are eating breakfast or I am getting his brother and sister ready for the day.
