styling: a rooftop engagement session
Love is in the air! I have not one, but two friends getting married this year who have requested for my styling services. The first is one of my long time friends from LA who just recently go engaged. I couldn’t be happier for her, so when she asked me to help her style her engagement session, I of course said yes! Always such an honor to style for a friend. [My second friend I will share more about in a later post!]
Tami and her twin sister Lauren are creators and owners over at Side by Side Design, an interior design and event planning service where they also blog about all of their projects. We all met when I was still living in LA through mutual friends and have always enjoyed being creative together, from our craft club, to cookbook club, to girl’s dinners, getting married, having babies, and everything in between.
Tami and Lauren gave me a head start for this one by describing and pinning the overall look for this rooftop city shoot, and then they sent over this inspiration board. Tami wants to give her wedding guests a sneak peak of the wedding itself when she uses the images from this shoot for her save-the-dates, a sparkling city theme with a touch of boho chic.
There are two looks for the shoot. The first is more casual, the second, more formal. Because Tami wanted two unique looks, but was on a budget for the wardrobe, I suggested Rent The Runway for at least one of her dresses. If you haven’t heard of Rent The Runway, you are missing out! It’s a great option to be able to borrow a fabulous look for a fraction of the price it would cost to purchase it. For all other sources, see links below.
// look one //
her // off white dress [also love this dress, this one, and this slightly dressier option] // flat sandals [another option] // long gold pendant necklace
him // grey tee [another option] // straight leg jeans // cognac wing tips
// look two //
her // gold sequin gown [also love this and this as options] // classic nude pump [love the patent, but also these would work] // modern gold tassel earrings
him // trim fit wool suit // black skinny tie // classic white shirt // pointy toe oxford
Also, how pretty are these ranunculus I picked up at Whole Foods the other day? I just love spring flowers. And I love love!
