pumpkin patch and other weekend fun
This last weekend we did what most families do this time of year, went to the pumpkin patch and had lots of other fun! Well, actually we went on Friday, so my husband wasn’t able to join us this time. But even going there with three kids by myself, we had so much fun! I feel like each year they get a little older, activities like this just get more and more enjoyable for all of us. And full disclosure, we did meet some friends there, which also always helps!
Also lately I have been invited to a lot of mama events and while it can be exhausting to go to them all, I always come feeling happy and inspired. On Saturday during the day we had a birthday party. Then on Saturday night, I went with a friend to the Spearmint LOVE pop-up shop in Scottsdale. Owner Shari is a mom of two who started out blogging when her first daughter was born. Eventually from there, she built up her online shop with high end baby items. She is such an inspiration!
Then Sunday morning, I was invited to a Nordstrom event put on by The Bump Club and Beyond with The Baby Guy. Founder of The Bump Club and Beyond, Lindsay, is also a mompreneur who started out by creating events for moms in her local area (Chicago). Then people started asking her to bring the events to other cities and that is what brought her to Arizona! I just love picking the brains of other creative mama entrepreneurs! [To see more pics of the events I go to in the future, be sure to follow me on Snapchat and/or Instagram stories.]
Bonus points because between those two events, I got to do some shopping. So I think I got our outfits styled for our family photos later this week. More on that coming soon!
I alluded to this a bit on my Instagram feed the other day, but life is just feeling really good lately. Sometimes it can be events or holidays like this that serve as a marker to remind us of where we were a year ago. That can be a bad or a good thing. For me, a year ago with a newborn + two toddlers was crazy hard. Having just moved to the desert from my beloved California less than a year before that added to that struggle. And further, my ongoing skin issues made life downright miserable.
Just to be clear, I am not free from all problems now. Life still presents its challenges. I just feel that at this point, I am stronger and better equipped to deal with those challenges, rather than just surviving day by day. I honestly think the first year of any baby’s life is the hardest. At least it was for me, all three times, in different ways. If you can get through that, you can get through anything!
So while I am feeling bittersweet about the fact that my baby refuses to stop getting bigger [understatement of the century], I am also feeling the postpartum clouds part. We have settled into a nice little groove in life right now and it feels good. Right now I am just enjoying these moments and taking it alll in. Before you know it, it will be Thanksgiving and Christmas time. And those holidays are my FAVORITE!
