introducing: the opposite of far storybook series
Once upon a time (one day while perusing Instagram), I came across a local photographer, Qiana K Photography, who had been shooting product for some of my favorite small shops. I loved her work, so I reached out to her to see if there might be some way we could work together, being that I am now offering styling services. A couple of exchanges and a meeting or two later, she asked me to help her style a photoshoot series for the incredibly talented maker of felt kids masks, Jessica Near of Opposite of Far.
I had worked with Jessica before when she made us custom dragon masks as a party favor for my daughter’s first birthday, and I have been a big fan of her work for a while, so naturally I jumped at the opportunity! For this project, Jessica had a vision to use her masks to illustrate classic children’s literature in in a series of photoshoots. She connected with Qiana to coordinate and shoot each story, and the called it, The Opposite of Far Storybook Series. Both Jessica and Qiana are equally as big of fans of supporting other local shops as I am, so we collaboratively used our knowledge of various small shops to bring in pieces for these shoots and support those hard working entrepreneurs out there!
Our first story was The Princess and The Frog. Qiana cast this darling brother and sister duo, who belong to miss Kaci Lynn, and found this gorgeous whimsical location, The Vintage Venue.

Our next story is the classic tale of The Tortoise and the Hare. This was shot at a local park.
