princess baby turns three
I say this every birthday and with every baby, but I can’t believe my sweet princess baby [as we sometimes call her] is THREE! From the time I was a little girl, I always hoped I would have a little girl of my own someday. She honestly makes all my dreams come true. I love watching the differences between her and her older brother as they grow into their own. He is ALL BOY and she is so girly. Little brother is still yet to be determined. But if she keeps her girly preferences, I know I will have a mini best friend in her for life. Just like my mama is to me.
For her magical unicorn first birthday party, I went ALL OUT. I did the same for each of my babes. But given that her birthday is so close to Thanksgiving, it can be challenging to pull off a birthday party for her, because we usually host Thanksgiving too. Also, my husband and I decided we would only do a party every other year for our kiddos. To try to keep the fanfare [and cost] down. So far we haven’t been super strict to that, but it’s a good idea, right? 😉 The point being, last year for her second birthday, we just did a super simple cake and a few pretty photos with family. She had presents and balloons and could not have been happier.
This year at three and with an older brother to idolize, she has been talking about her birthday and her birthday party for MONTHS. Not wanting to let either of us get too carried away, I told her that she could chose three friends [since she was turning three] to have over to the house for a party. Well her three friends turning into six pretty fast. But we decided no siblings, and just us girls to keep it low key.
I think this was actually my favorite way to do a birthday party yet! I still got to be creative with the theme she chose [pink and purple princesses], but without all the pressure of feeding and entertaining lots of kids and their grownups. We didn’t plan any activities or games, just played, ate treats, sang happy birthday, and opened presents! It was a perfect day. Except for when she woke up that morning to the party scene I spent all night setting up and saw her Wrare Doll princess dress. She took one look and said, “no, I want to be a mermaid today.” [insert eyeroll emoji] Clearly she got over it though!

So darling!! I’m crossing my fingers you’ve got a tutorial on those sweet toddler crowns for us. Growing up, all four of us siblings had November/December birthdays so we did the every other year friend party and it was great! We plan on doing the same for our kiddos.

Thank you Brittney! The crowns were so simple. I just took a single type of sparkly foliage I found at Michaels and bent/wrapped it with some floral wire, then used twine at the back. It came already sparkly like that!
